How we keep it simple & effective:

Dial in the ratio of foods to support the body composition you want

Meal plans and calorie caps are for people who don’t have an authority complex about food.
As an only child and raging hedonist (same diff), I can’t stand being told what and how much food I can eat.
As a trainer I’ve seen it time and again—
If you have to rely on external food rules, instead of understanding what your body is asking for and how to satiate it, you’ll become resentful of the process.
If you have to use willpower for every meal, instead of finding the angle that keeps you confident and relaxed around food, you won’t sustain that way of eating for long.
I want as much freedom around food as humanly possible, and I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to eat like a robot (do robots eat?) in order to be healthy, strong, and reasonably lean.
Academy trainees are astounded at the muscle they build, the fat they lose, and the time and energy they gain by simply shifting their habits around food.
The 2 Nutrition Tracks
Nutrition Coaching means working with a coach to design meals that fit your goals AND your preferences. It’s about feeling comfortable and confident around food every single day, not trying to shoehorn in supplements or live on meal plans.
Standard Mode
All trainees spend their first 3 months in the Academy in Standard Mode, building foundational nutrition habits that will serve them for the rest of their adventurous lives:
Eating enough protein
Eating enough fruits and vegetables
Not a SINGLE trainee has entered this program eating enough protein, fruits, or vegetables for their goals. Yes, even the ones who think they “eat well.”
It’s utterly pointless to jump into tracking calories or cutting food out of your diet until you have mastered adding in the necessary nutrients for a reasonably lean, strong, healthy body.
Standard Mode is how you will live your life. We we build easy, go-to meals and learn how to eat any time, anywhere for your goals, without restriction of any kind.
Physique Mode
After they’ve spent at least 3 months in Standard Mode honing their foundational habits, trainees have the OPTION to enter Physique Mode if they’d like to temporarily focus on fat loss or muscle gain.
Tracking full macros for 3-6 months
The purpose of any tracking is to teach you what your meals should look like in a calorie deficit or surplus. The goal is never to track food forever—ew.
Macro coaching (setting protein, carb, and fat targets) is a pretty smooth transition in the Academy because trainees have already built sustainable meals around protein and whole foods in Standard Mode. Now we just dial in the carbs and fats a bit more!
Common Nutrition Questions

As long as you eat some animal products (meat, fish, eggs, dairy), you’ll do great here.
Vegetarians, pescatarians, and omnivores will thrive.
Vegans and strictly plant-based eaters, not so much. It’s just not an optimal diet for a homo-sapien, it’s extremely restrictive, and it requires supplements to survive. So it’s not what I coach.

If you’d like! Some trainees enjoy it, while others, like me, prefer to “ingredient prep.”
This just means having easy, go-to ingredients that can be whipped up in any combo for a fast meal. For example: A can of veggie lentil soup with rotisserie chicken thrown in.
There are many ways to eat for your goals, and we’ll find what works fo you!

I don’t place an emphasis on supplements.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely. But first we need to know how to eat before we start relying on things like protein powder to get to our goals.

I understand the urge behind “Just tell me what to eat!” but unfortunately meal plans are a short-term fix.
In order to eat in a way that supports your goals (and sanity) for the rest of your life, you need to learn how to eat any time, any where.
What I’ll help you do is build out a roster of foods and meals that YOU like and are simple and easy to make, and teach you how to eat when you’re not in your own kitchen.
You can still enjoy your vacations, eat out with the fam/friends, and behave like a real person ;)

As an only child/raging hedonist, I would never dream of taking away food you love!
Trainees quickly discover that by eating more of the nutrients heir body needs, their cravings for sweets and processed food plummets.
You won’t need willpower here; we’re going to work with your body so you can strike a balance you love.

This is extremely common, especially for women. And it’s understandable why they would feel skittish about focusing on their nutrition.
Here’s the cool part: Every person with a restrictive or obsessive food background has thrived in the Academy because we focus on eating enough of the food that keeps you healthy and strong.
There are no ceilings to stay under, and nothing is “off limits,” and that is incredibly freeing.
And yes, it still leads to improved body composition (more muscle, less fat)!
